Using the Correct Dog Obedience Training Solution

If you have a dog that jumps on visitors, urinates everywhere or chews your furniture, don’t lose hope. With the correct dog obedience training solution you can develop a well trained dog.

Sit

For example, when issuing the command to sit, your goal is to have your pet sit on your left side with his shoulder in line with your knee. You will want to hold the leash in your left hand while you tell your dog to “Sit”. Then assist him in the learning process by pushing down on his hunches and pulling up on the leash. This will give your dog the correct position.

Don’t forget to re-enforce his correct performance by rewarding him with a treat.

Stay

While your dog is in a Sitting Position, you can teach him to Stay Put. The way to accomplish this behavior is to couple the command to “Stay”, with specific body language. You do this by telling your dog to “Stay” while simultaneously holding up your hand with the palm facing towards your dog.

Every time your pet correctly obeys the dog obedience training solution that you are teaching, praise him, “That A Boy”. If he doesn’t have the skill down yet just put him back into the Sit Position and repeat the process.

Down

To have your dog learn the Down Command, it is advantageous to have the dog in the ‘Sit’ position. Now you can build on this position, by telling the dog, “Down” and slowly pushing on his shoulders and canting him a bit off balance.

Another method some trainers use is to put the leash under their shoe whilst pulling up on the leash. They issue the command “Down” and at the same time they pull up on the leash. This tends to draw the animal into the Down Position.

Heel

When you have your dog out for a walk, this is a good time to practice the Heel Command. The goal that you are endeavoring to achieve is to have your dog walk in unionism with you. The Dog’s right shoulder should stay even with your left knee.

The Dog obedience training solution to accomplish the Heeling Position follows.
First, call your dog’s name to get his attention and give the command to ‘Heel’. Does this while walking forward and at the same time pulling on the leash, to position the dog near your left knee.

Again, praise and reward your pet when he does it correctly, and try again until he understands what you want him to do. Remember, patience and repetition is two good keys to use when learning a new skill.

Turn

When you are reversing direction, the turn command is accomplished by having your dog walk around you to the right. Give the ‘Turn’ command and watch your dog’s position as you give multiple short and fast jerks on the dog’s leash.

You and your dog can have a good time while practicing this dog obedience training solution. Soon you will be beaming with pride over what you and your pet have accomplished.
