Six Tips to Stop Dog Hostility
Fast
How to Handle Dog Aggression
Is your
dog showing aggressive tendencies to other dogs or people?
One of the more common causes of dog hostility
is fear.
Fear can be initiated when a stranger
approaches your dog to pat them. When people reach out quickly to pat a dog on the head, your animal doesn’t know
if the intention is a friendly one or not. Your dog may think that it is about to get hit. Dogs need a moment to
establish trust with a complete stranger.
People need to keep their hands at their side
and basically ignore a dog upon a first meeting. They would be wise to wait until the dog nuzzles up to the
stranger’s hand, and demonstrates that it is looking for some affection.
A problem can develop if your dog is
consistently demonstrating aggression to other dogs, regardless of breed, sex or size. This aggressive behavior may
be taking place because of a fearful experience that took place when the dog was younger.
Whether a situation that involves hostility
involves other people or other animals - you need to know how to correctly handle the situation. So here are six
tips to help:
1. Avoid places that may contain violent
dogs.
