Dog Training Success
Tips
Spending quality time teaching your
dog to obey can be a lot of fun. So go slow and enjoy your pet because these dog obedience training principles will
deepen the love and bond you have for each other.
We have included these basic dog
obedience training tips because they work. Whether your dog is getting ready for competition, hunting or just
enjoying your families company, these are the principles that will really pay off.
Be Patient and Be
Consistent
Patience and consistency are key if
your want to change your dog’s behavior or re-enforce his performance. To obtain consistency, it is important to
always associate the commands you use with the same hand or body actions. So use the same obedience training
commands and actions for sit, come, stop etc. This will limit confusion and increase the
dog’s learning and absorption rate.
Dog Obedience Training Uses Proper
Timing
Using proper timing is extremely
important. When your dog exhibits the correct results this is the time to praise and reward them. By responding
quickly with a treat or by ignoring them, they associate your reactions with what they have just done. So be quick
with the reward when they have obeyed correctly and reprimand them by ignoring them when they approach. This
quickly informs your dog whether their reaction to your commands were acceptable or not.

Affection
Our dogs love the affectionate
attention we give because of their keen desire to please us. But they are somewhat incapable of knowing what you
want if you depend only on words alone.
Dog Obedience Training Uses
Sameness
You and pet will communicate best if
you use the same tone when issuing that particular word command. Likewise, if you use the same body language that
particular command will be re-enforced and it will result in your animal correctly understanding
you.

Correction
As the dominant member of the pack,
you should promptly correct your dog when he requires adjustment. Don’t give in to him when he wants to disobey or
misbehave. This is the time to withhold the reward and instead issue a firm verbal response that communicates your
displeasure.
Dog Obedience Training Produces
Results
Reserve your dog
obedience training sessions for the times when you most want to be with your dog. Don’t try and train when
you are frustrated, angry or under the influence of a drug or booze. It just isn’t fair to you and it isn’t
fair to your pet. I can guarantee you, that if you diligently practice the above training keys you will be
amazed with the quick results you will obtain.
